The 25-year-old who is currently training as a helicopter pilot and hopes to fly Apache gunships if he earns his wings in May. That would then mean he would be unable to accompany his brother William to the World Cup in South Africa.

Harry is not so worried about missing the football but the opportunity to use the trip to raise awareness of his charity work in Africa.

His Sentebale organisation, which supports children orphaned by Aids in the tiny land-locked country of Lesotho, needs all the help it can get after its accounts showed it had paid out only £84,000 of the £1.15million it had raised.

The guest list was small and invitations were hotly sought after. Dignitaries attending included Rugby notables (Richie McCaw among them), Cabinet Ministers and key staff from the Government. The Prince and the Prime Minister spent a considerable amount of time cooking for the guests.

Sources close to negotiations over the dispute say that the photographic agencies have offered to meet Middleton’s demands because they cannot risk losing an expensive court battle.

One source said: “We can’t fight them. If it went to court and we lost, it could cost £100,000.”

AP understands that the photographer captured around 50 images using a Canon DSLR and 70-200mm zoom lens from an ‘elevated’ footpath that overlooks the tennis court.

Only 12-15 of the pictures are believed to have been distributed to the media.

Images were only made available for publication once the agency had satisfied itself that they would not breach UK press guidelines. The pictures were not published in the UK but one image appeared in a German newspaper.

Prince Harry who was once said he didn’t have the “brain capacity” to fly an Apache, sophisticated combat helicopter. Harry who is currently training at the Army Air Corps headquarters in Middle Wallop, Hampshire is being considered to fly the aircraft after doing well in training.

One of superiors at Middle Wallop said to Mail on Sunday newspaper, He said: “Harry has done better on his course than we were expecting and that is why the Apache is now being considered for him. You have to be able to take in a lot of information very quickly and have good situational awareness and Harry has proved that he has.

He added: “Prince Harry has a good idea that he has been shortlisted and he’s really had his head down as he has a lot of work on at the moment. His dream is to fly an Apache and we’ve told him it will all depend on how he does on the next part of the course. It certainly hasn’t been ruled out.”

If the prince does get to fly the Apache, it might mean he could return to the front line in Afghanistan, where he served in December 2008. The prince until now has been learning to fly a Lynx utility helicopter, used for support and convoy protection as well as ferrying troops around. but Apaches have a more direct combat role.

However, Prince will have to undergo another 6-8weeks of training before any decision on a helicopter is made.

The Category 1 list, which includes the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles and Prince William, remains unchanged. If they die, there will be an immediate interruption of all BBC programs with an official announcement normally via a Buckingham Palace statement.

Prince Harry now appears in a new list that includes the Pope, Muhammad Ali, Barack Obama, Nelson Mandela, Mikhail Gorbachev, Gordon Brown, the Dalai Lama, Margaret Thatcher, Tony Blair, Nick Clegg and Bob Dylan.

Neither the BBC nor Buckingham Palace would comment on the changes last night.

However, its been reported that the recipient of the prestigious accolade has not yet been named.

A royal spokesperson said: “We don’t want to say who the recipient is because that person doesn’t know yet. The prince was very honored to be asked because it’s obviously an immensely powerful organization which represents one of Britain’s most successful industries. The prince was delighted to be invited.”

It will be the first time that William has attended such a prestigious awards ceremony, and organisers hope his appearance will give the BAFTAs a boost in profile.
